Keeping the mushies
    #4786793 - 10/11/05 10:25 AM (19 years, 3 months ago)

I have a thick plastic see through container, that came with my food saver. See below:

Can I store dry mushies in this?

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.

Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

A glass container, such as a mason jar is a better idea. Dried mushrooms potency will deteriorate over time, as they oxidise and plastic does allow a certain amount of gas exchange though very little. If its thick plastic you should still be fine.

How long will these mushies last in a container like this?

Those will work just fine. Be sure they are crackers dry first.

I've kept dried mushrooms in a ziplock bag for over 9 months and they worked well. Can't speak for any longer then that.

yeah dried mush will last a while - i just ate some that were 6 months old worked great - as someone else said be sure they are completely dried to avoid any possible mold growth!
