How long can I leave the cakes in the jars?

I'll be out of town for a few weeks and don't want to move the cakes into the terrarium until I return - At that point the cakes will have been in the jars over two months - At what point must the cakes be removed? Is there a point that will jeopardize the shroom development if I leave the cakes in the jars too long? Thanks!!

They can stay in there for a very long time from my experience. I've had some cakes still in their jars for about two months. They still grow fine mushrooms.

the longer the better if you ask me. i believe overincubated jars have increased potency. just my opinion though.

i've had some palenque jars in a box for like 4 months, is that ok? there's a little orange in some spots but i think it is the vermiculite?

Vermiculite is gray/silver not orange. I'd be more worried about the orange spots than the age of the jars.

i'll have to post pics sometime, they have been in there for months with no contams, it seems all of them have the little spots around the mica in the vermiculite.
