I had a trich problem..............
    #4783238 - 10/10/05 03:48 PM (18 years, 4 months ago)

Hi all,

I had a problem with trich. I guess there wasn't enough fresh air exchange. I added an air stone and have begun fanning more. I have a dozen or so frits to harvest then I'm going to pitch the casing. Is my FC toast? Should I toss the perlite. Scrub out the FC with bleach and essentially start over? Or will the spores be contained in the dish where I had the casing?

Thanks again,

your FC isnt toast but you show empty it out and wash with soapy water than a light bleach rub down then let it dry. i would toss the perlite. if you are using a double tub as your fc, then you really dont need an air stone bc the fc traps enough mositure to maintain the rh at 95F which is ideal when casings are just starting.

Agreed. Get fresh perlite and wash the tub very well. Usually enough air exchange can be achieved between fannings by leaving the lid on at an angle so the corners are open. Constant fresh air is the way to beat trich and cobweb.
