(for future reference) should I use straight poo or a poop/straw mix? Like, which colonizes faster and is more resistent to contams?...
thanks, Jarrod

Straight poo is better than poo/straw in my experience, and it seems to be more resistant to contams when you take straw out of the picture. But what works even better than those two is 50/50 poo/coir. Try it as a bulk substrate, you might be impressed.

For best results, yeah. I've never tried poo/coir uncased, but you can always give it a try and report back.

I've got 6 jars and everything, I'm just needing some spores of some sort or another, I plan to fruit 2 as cakes, case 2, and if all goes well (no contams) spawn the last 2 to bulk substrate...when I've become a little more established and have the means necassary I will deff be experimenting with things not mentioned on thshroomery and writing grow logs...where is coir sold and approx cost?

Coir is sold at pet stores. I like to use 50/50 peat/verm PH adjusted with crushed oyster shells for a casing layer.

id say for every pound of poo you use, use 1-2 pints (2-4 .5pt jars) of colonized substrate. And if your getting poo, tennstud is a shroomery sponsor and it is fucking ROCKIN. no customer records kept, quick, flat rate shipping, and the prepasturized poo doesnt stink at all! its like handling soil hehe. if you get 50/50 straw mix, it has a lesser shelf life, so u better use it quickly. i talked to the tennstud man, he recommends straight poo for first timers, plus, it can be stored longer in a dark, cool, environment. POO POO POO!
