Do you know of any good web sites with pictures and descriptions of pilates and/or yoga exercises? I am especially looking for specific exercises for the abs and back.

Get Iyengar's (sp?) 'Light on Yoga' at a book-store. It is by far the best, most complete work on yoga that I have ever seen. Has outlined programs going from beginners to very advanced.

You will not out-grow this book!  :smile: :smile: :smile:

I highly recommend taking a class or having an instructor guide you through the postures. Only then will the nuiances of the postures be clear - you cannot readily understand these with a book. Why? One reason is it is hard to see yourself as an instructor would...you might be out of posture (which is inevitable as a beginner) and you wouldnt realize it. Correct posture is 1000x more important than anything in yoga.

I'm pretty new to the whole yoga thing myself. Been doing yoga now for a year and I have found that it is all pretty much core strengthening even when working on legs or arms. I have never taken a class. Just never had the money to do so. I've always just used instruction videos and they are pretty good. There is a company called Gaiam that put out some pretty good videos. I have tried several and theirs by far are the best I have run into so far. Just do a search on Amazon or Ebay. You should be able to find something.

No websites? I'm not very good at finding stuff on the internet these days....all I find is studio sites or pay sites.....no free stuff info on postures and exercises. Well maybe one site will have a few exercises listed but not like an entire catalog or free informational site. Anyone?
