Perlite for Humidification

I've got a terrarium setup with 1.5" of perlite across the bottom, and 3/4" of water (underneath the perlite layer). So the water comes up about half way.
The terrarium gets really humid at first, but after a day or so, the humidification seems to drop a little and the beads start to go away just above the perlite layer.
Any ideas what i'm doing wrong here? Do i need mroe perlite? more water?

Sounds like a temp deal. What is the temp in your terrarium?

took a quick pic. of my setup if that helps...
(do you see the line (moving upwards) where the condensation disappears?) I also marked the perlite and water levels in the terrarium w/ blue marker.

You could grab yourself a fish tank bubbler and a fish tank heater, put the bubbler in a recepticle of water (it doesn't have to be big) along with the heater. You can heat the water to the desired temperature wich will keep your terr. temp ideal, and the bubbler will create condensation that will contantly re-moisterize the perlite. With the bubbler, heater and perlite, your terrarium will maintain an 82-86 degree temp with 90% (+-) humidity. The hardware will only cost you about $20 tops and can be found at any pet store.

though all that *' is really a waste of time, I promise your humidity is around 100%... if you must see condensation on the walls to feel better, you can set your perlite bin on top of a heat pad set on low.

well that would make a heating pad a waste of time too if you have to go out and purchase it, and isn't ment to be left unattended. if you are going to be out shopping for hardware, you may as well go for broke. Oh well, everyone has they're own method, equal but different.

These are actually colonisation temperatures.
For fruiting you should be in the seventies.
