yes as long as there is no major loss in humidity....just keep humidity at optimum levels

as long as it doesn't let any (or very little) air in/out you should be ok. I'd just test it, does condensation build up on the sides? Btw, why the switch from the rubbermaid lid to the glass lid? Do you think this will be a better "seal"?

I got a big 18 gallon tub i'm using for my terrarium. It came with one of those lids that snaps down on the two short ends. Didn't make a very snug seal though so i tossed it and replaced with good ol' fashioned aluminum foil. Made it a few layers thick and voila, instant air-tight custom-fit lid!.

It's amazing what one can do with some aluminum foil. :)
