what happens to a stretched out lopho?
    #4769833 - 10/07/05 05:15 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

i have some loph seedlings and they have had poor light for a long time so now some of them are seriously stretched...

so what will happen? will i get a ball on a stick or pear shaped cactus?
maybe i should bury it partly in perlite or something?
anything i can do to keep these things from becoming to retarded looking?

graft it... or you could carefully repot it or add a little more soil around the base.

post a pic. usually they stretch and then assume classic shape. but im assuming you know this and still see it as abnormal. still post a pic.

grafting never hurts though!

Heres the worst of em.
from ure comments i gather that the perlite, or grit as i used
wasnt going to hurt so what i did was elongate the pots with some tape
so i didnt have to repot them...

yeah repot them in there own pots and just use a mixture of potting soil and cactus succulent mixture soil. they look pretty sweet would go great with a graft.

i sowed em on march 2nd and from that day ive kept them in a mini version of the PMP, that is a little plastic tub with geolite and a bubblethingy at the bottem.
but apparently the plastic thing i used was blocking too much uv
and they became stretched.
after that they got some sunburn and now im keeping them under 2 36watt floro tubes...
