Would pickling active cacti destroy any alkaloids? And would pickled active cacti taste about the same as pickled non active cati?

What does the pickling process involve?

Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it." -Abraham Lincoln

The vinegar wouldn't harm the alkaloids. It would just turn freebase mescaline into mescaline acetate. I don't see how the spices could harm it either.

Would the vinegar absorb any of the mescaline?

Like he said, it would salt it into mesc acetate. Mescaline salt is soluble in water. Vinegar is usually 5% acid, right?
The mescaline would indeed be absorbed, many who do extractions or tea acidify their water first.

So I would have pickled psychadelic cacti, and I could make some psychadelic vinegerrette for a salad, kickass.

Your problem with this is figuring out how to dose it. You are, I believe, a pioneer in this area.
Good Luck!!!

Cacti raw are very bitter but pickled they have one of the best tastes in the world, so I thinkt that the same would loosly apply to active cacti. And I have found that trips are soooo much better when you do it with a nice salad (cut up 'shrooms and out them on a salad and see for yourself).

I look forward to your results
So you've eaten other non-active cacti, pickled and not pickled?
