I have a pressure cooker and the verm and poting soil plus. I was wonder what could be used to put it into the pressure cooker. Some kind of bag I may have around the house. Or is a bag even needed? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Do you really not need to sterilize the casing Pav? And just what exaclty is your casing of choice?

Jars? so put the 50/50 mix in jars then pressure cook. I'm confused. Is there anything wrong with just putting the mix directly into the pc alone. Possibly a cloth on the bottom so it wont burn or what not.

I heard the bag the potting soil plus comes in is ok to put in pressure cooker....just dont let it touch the sides and cut the little plastic zipper thingy off...or you can put it in one of those cheapo flimsy metal baking pans and just bake it at 160 or so for about an hour

Im still wondering what the reasoning is for bagging the 50/50 mix when its in th pressure cooker. So it doesnt get soaked or what?

if its bagged it wont be so messy and hard to deal with and If its not in something youll probably end up with baked on crust dirt all over your pc...and so it doesnt get soaked.....you want your casing to be barely wet....it should not drip when you squeeze it....just damp

also, the soil needs to be contained, you don't want any little particles getting up and blocking the pressure release valve, that would be catastrophic.

I use a foil covered mixing bowl. Yes, you don't want it soaked, just good and hot.
