Stubby Litte Suckers

I've got a small casing of PF strain going and I've got one baby shroom growin thats about 3/4" tall and about 1/2" wide. Today, the veil started to tear. Whats the deal? Why is it starting to open so soon? Also, my mycelium is starting to bruise in a few areas. Could these problems be caused by not fanning enough?? The casing is verm, using perlite humidification in case this helps. And since its already starting to tear, should I go ahead and pick it? It's a fat little sucker and looks tasty, plus ive got several other pins almost the same size, but they havent torn away yet. If I leave it for a few more days will it grow more or will the cap just spread? Thanks for any info.

one reason due to them being stubby is that its not getting direct light. if you have a light source coming down on the terranium (not meaning 24/7) then it will grow upward toward that direction. and another reason being fromwhat you stated at the end. what you said about those "blue bruises". the reason why youre seeing blue spots is from dehydration. is this your first flush? if not, cakes/casing become dehydrated after a couple flushes. fanning has nothing to do with it. if this is your first flush then chances are you left your cake in the preassure cooker/boiled water for a bit to long and the top wet casing layer didnt really help much. also helps if you mist the top layer right after casing and placing it in the terranium. hope that helped.

They are getting direct liget, there is a small lamp a few feet above the terrarium and I turn it on for several hours a day(about 10). You are probably right about the dehydration since te casing layer has always been a little on the dry side. This is the first flush, so I will try misting and see if that helps.
