Buffering Grow Brick

A friend has had good results with grow brick (coconut fiber) as a casing. The other day I noticed the pH is around
5-6. Will the acidity affect the growing process? Would you suggest using a buffer? Even if you have no idea, I'd like to hear from any one that has used coco fiber as a casing.

I allways use a small amount of crushed limestone and/or crushed oytershells for this purpose.

So you just replaced the vermiculite with coco fiber in the 5050plus tek? How would you compare this mix to the other?
