Humidifier settings

Do you or your friends keep your humidifier on high or low? What on/off times do you use? Do you follow daily maintenance? Does my friend have to do the coke bottle thing from the mmgg or is it not needed? My friend made a lid for his tank out of saran wrap and was just gonna stick the tube from the humidifier through it. any suggestions on where to put it? Like high in the tank or low or pointing up or anything? What would be a good way to mount or get the tube to stay in the postition it needs to go in? Thanks in advance

Hmm I've never used an ultrasonic but from what I have heard they produce a lot of moisture real quick so you have to use sparingly..and they dont give gas exchange so you have to devise some way for that too. My advice...get a cool mist and do like you said with the hose. You can run cool mist 24/7. Ultrasonic you'd have to run in 5 minute increments like twice a day or something and you'd have to fan it out somehow.

why wouldn't an ultrasonic provide air exchange? My friend has an air pump he's gonna hook up. Do they really produce humidity that fast? 5 minutes is real short. My friends timer can only go in increments of 30 minutes. He really would like to use the ultrasonic cause he already has it.

I suppose you could use it, like I said I've never used one before but I have talked to several people who have and they tell me it can be very tricky to get it right. I guess you could go with the setup like in the MMGG with the series of bottles and tubes and shit..and mess with it until you get the proper humidity. I think the ultrasonic provides little to no air exchange, so you would have to use a fish tank bubbler or fan it manually. Do some test runs and see how humid it gets on low after a couple minutes. You DO have a hygrometer right?

>and they dont give gas exchange They do. They have a vent which blows air through the compartment where the mist is produced. So they provide air exchange. But as you said, they produce way too much moisture.
