Ive had real difficulty finding half pint jars that are taperewd and suit the need that is describes in the PF-tek.(probs cos i live in the uk)

I do however have the perfect pint jars. Can i fill these fully and do everything else the same? Can i fill these half full and do the same?

Thanks for the info

Yes, it will take longer to colonise, maek sure you get the wide mouth pint jars, other wise you will not be able to SLide them out whole as a cake.

Will it take double the time? Is there a problem with only filling them half full?

it won't take double the time to do 1 pint jars of BRF/Verm.

don't just fill them half way...unless you are going to use polyfil in your lid.

I just did a few 1 pint jars that finnished up last week...for an experiment that I'm doing.
South American strain...it took 14 days to colonize.

just make sure that you don't pack the substrate into the jar...just tap it down lightly...and put the dry verm layer down on top of the wet substrate.

when colonizing 1 pint jars make sure that you don't have any tape or alum foil covering the inoculation holes in the lid...don't worry about contams the dry verm layer will protect the substrate.
if you keep the holes covered the jar will stall(stop growing)...so pull the tape and foil off.

if the jar still stalls during anytime during colonization...flip the jar.
the stalling might be from a CO2 build up inside the jar.

sometimes the bottom of the cake just doesn't want to finnish colonizing...
take the jar and slap the lid side down on the inside of your hand...and dislodge the cake from the inside of the jar.
so that the cake is loose on the inside.
sit the jar on its lid...there should be a gap now between the bottom of the jar and the cake.
this will help the bottom of the cake finnish colonizing.
