How much is too much?

If a casing has the following stats

1. Been in a fruiting chamber for 5 days

2. Heavy patches of rhizomorphic growth all over the top of the casing layer. About 1/16th of an inch long

Is this on the way to overlay? There are still some uncolonized patches on the surface of the casing layer. No myc piss yet..Very moist...nothing turning gray.....

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

yeah, 5 days is a bit soon to be worried. Hard to tell if you are on your way to overlay w/out a pic.

So long as you fruited the casing right when you saw the first signs of mycelium, you shouldn't have to worry about overlay. A lot of people get paranoid about overlay, but I've only seen a few cases of actual overlay. Those cases were always due to fruiting too late, both of those people thought you had to wait for the whole casing layer to colonize b4 fruiting....thus overlay.

Give it a few more days and you should start to see some pins.
