Ok,
I am still confused on the abort issue.....
I can't remember the exact strain, but I think it is tapalpas....
And I can't remember captain max's url to find the strain or
the correct name. I have over 2 dozen pins on a single 1/2
pint cake, ( my first pins ever ) not sure if this particular strain fruits big, and I should clear the tiny ones, or if it fruits small and plentiful.
many of the pins are now over an inch long and more coming in every hour it seems. They have VERY fat bottoms and reddish brown heads.
Nothing looks like an abort yet,,, Will I know aborts when I see them??
Should I clear out a bunch of the smaller pins???
Everything looks damn healthy and pinning has been going on for a few days.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Congrats, Newbie, on finally getting some pins.
Be patient and let things happen. Youll know aborts when you see them

An aborts cap will blacken, other wise it will cease to grow and wither. Don't clear nothing until you're certain they're not maturing. (or in the process of maturing)

You two are among the first people I ever chatted with when I first came here I value your opinions deeply!! And, just saw another from anno!! You guys Rock!! Thanks to anno explaining how the brf/verm/water is supposed to mix, ALL of my jars colonize or are colonizing nicely... No problems with to much water in the jars, or to little.

Looks like we are BOTH at about the same stage,
cept I only have ONE cake with pins, transferred
6 more + 1 casing to the terrarium last night :0)
Hoping to have something looking like yours real shortly!
Were your cakes pinning before you put them into the terrarium, and, if not, how long did they take to start pinning? My single cake was a contam cake that I nurtured back to health, and lives all by itself on top of my fridge :)
And I would like to send anno my thanks as well. For a ridiculously low amount he sent me SEVERAL prints! Made my own syringes from the Thai/Mateous Romero/ and one other unmarked " mystery " print he sent! And the innoculations went beautifully!!

Unmarked mystery print.... hmmmm.... not labeled? I nearly can?t imagine it...
Ok, now if everybody ;) is posting pictures here, then I can?t resist.
A GT cake starting its second flush.
The red stuff is moist clay and acts as humidity provider.

Yeppers anno,
I think the others were marked (labeled) in green pen.
But one print, yellowish in color and VERY light, it's almost not there.
Sealed in it's own bag, and like I said, a faint yellowish tan color.
It's the only print you sent that was like that by the way ( light ), I was VERY happywith what you sent me! =)
It was between two glass slides, is totally unmarked.
The ONLY unmarked print that you sent me, which was kindav exciting
since I all of the sudden had a "Mystery Print " to work with!
Gotta git me a damn digital camera...
And OH MY. That cake looks soooo good, I could just gobble it all up!
Reminds me of a quote from Half Baked....

humn damn you anno my cakes don't even look as nice as yours, even tho everyday I check them more pins have come up!
And no, NewbieShroomer, the cakes weren't pinning when I put them in the terrarium, I put 'em in as soon as they were 100% colonized, took me 8 days to see the first actual primorida, I was so happy, and of course it aborted the same day I discovered it, hehe
I also cased two jars of Ecuador (Equador? I never remember...)
here are the first results:
Unfortunately, I "had to" eat that little baby (the taste sucked, I still feel sick at the idea) because it aborted.
