GT's didn't drop spores
    #4742435 - 10/01/05 10:34 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

sorry, no pics, my camera actually broke just a couple hours ago. my grow of 11 pf cakes(6 B+ and 5 GT) are fruiting and are due to be harvested. the B+ did awesome, the GT's didn't fare as well, a lot of aborts, mutants, and very small shrooms. but one thing that did concern me about the GT's is that even after a day of having the veil broken, they haven't dropped the same thick coating of spores like the B+'s have. Anybody got something to say about this?

you just might have got an infertile sub-strain that does not put out very many spores some mushrooms are like that, penis envy for example.

If the GT caps gills have that lovely gold color, they won't drop spores.
You have to wait till the gills turn dark. Then your good to go.

B+ is a heavy sporulator most of the time, other strains aren't. I'm not sure about the GT's but I found that it helped to lower the relative humidity for a day or two to get weak sporulators to drop
