The first autumn raindrops used to make me sad as a kid since that was a sighn of the summer ending. It seems that this has changed quite a bit lately...

 Magic in the earth:
Taping the cap to drop the spores:
 Not bad for early autumn:
 Hmmmmm...
 Mmmmmmm...
 Hiding under tree...
The hunt was almost ending, but while leaving the forest we found him...
 ...hiding behind a tree...
The kids where left behind...too young...

 Hungry?
 So beautifull....
 ...fairy near...

 ...the king of fungi...
 ...yeap!...

Forest fruit for the tired hunters! What a nice gift from the forest...

good luck in the rest of Autumn becuz Im sure there will be tons more of those for you to find
but as far as tapping the cap to drop spores... i dont see a point in doing it-

They where found on the mountain of the 12 gods
Tapping the cap to let immence amounts of spores reach the earth is essential for the Amanita life cycle as well as the basket for placing the amanitas inside...
The spores find their way out of the baskets gaps and as you walk thru the forest you literally spread this wonderfull species everywhere you go.
For this reason it is also best to leave the stem of the shrooms since they have millions of spores on them.
In some countries it is illegal to hunt shrooms without a basket.

Those where picked a few weeks after the first rains but i am not shure cos the mountain is so far from where i live.
I am not shure about Washington
Thanx for the happy comments everyone! Next week i am going for a 10-day Amanita hunting trip on a 1600m altitude. Gonna grab that new 8-megapixel camera from my parents and hopefully i will find the largest Amanita ever found on earth
The largest i have seen up to now had the size of a normal vinyl record. no photo tho
