casing mix! need help

okay. so i got my verm and peat moss for my casing mix. but calcium carbonate or w/e i cant find. ive heard people using crushed egg shells i duno if that worked or not.. what else can i use???

Calcium Carbonate (and other pH buffers) are used to achieve an optimal pH in a casing. They are not a required material, if you do choose to use them try checking out http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/3288 or search the forums.

oyster shell will work too. You can buy it in landscaping departments and sometimes pet stores. You just have to gring it finer.
ge4 is correct though that it is just used as a buffer and isn't necessarily essential

i get crushed oyster shells from the feed store.. its for birds.. like chickens and that it gives them roughage.. its only like 2$ for a 5 lb bag

Crushed oyster shell is the same thing as calcium carbonate. You can also use lime.
