funny mushrooms

I had about six mushrooms growing at the end of my first flush and I was waiting for them to open, but they didn't seem too eager to do so. A couple of them started leaning over as if they were wilting, so I decided to pick them. When I did, the center of some of the stems were a light brown color. They didn't smell like anything but mushroom so I figure that they are ok to eat, but I was wondering if this spells trouble for the second flush. What would cause this? They stayed at about the same size for almost 2 days, nearly open, but not quite. Any help would be much appreciated..
