Should I remove small mushrooms from my cake?
    #473498 - 11/29/01 01:49 PM (15 years, 14 days ago)

I have a whole lot of little "shit" undeveloped mushrooms on my cakes. Should I be picking these off and discarding them, or should I just leave them? And when I pick my good shrooms, should I use sterile tweezers, or does it matter?

It's fine to remove them. Be sure to take them before the caps turn black. black caps=rotten fungus (not good)

How long should it be between the first flush of mushrooms and the second. I'm having a hard time getting a second round of fruiting. The cake is just kind of sitting there producing only the little shits. I would like some large well developed mushrooms. Any advice?

Hey Dooney,

I did a hybrid PFTEK and MMGG a few years ago. And if I recall correctly, it was roughly 3 days or so? I'm not sure. I'm sure someone will be surer than me on that. I'm gonna try casing for the first time soon.

mklangelo,
thanks for your help. When you said it was a hybird, what do you mean? I'm pretty much using the regular MMGG tek. So far it's been ok, but like I said, I've been dissapointed by the fact that I haven't been getting a second fruiting off my cakes. I only got about 3 mushrooms/cake on the first fruiting, and they weren't that big. Any advice for a newbie?
