I have heard more than one "expert" on that part of the world state that getting these folks working together is kind of like "herding house-cats". Which creates a pretty comical image in my head by the way. Anyway ,there is no national identity. The primitive mindset of tribal and clan thinking is dominant in this part of the world. As man evolves he starts to think of himself as an "Earthling" for lack of a better word. A citizen of the world. His identity broadens and he begins to see all people as having much more in common with himself than not. It is people with this "expanded" view of themselves and the world that don't look upon differences and fear them. In other words, I'm not optimistic about "post-war" Afghanistan. To them an AK-47 is a piece of jewlery...

Yeah, they will fuck it up and in ten years you will read in the liberal press about how we enstated a dictorial government back in '01 that has been starving the masses for a decade and how Muslim hatred for the US is at an all-time high.
