Finding the status of Fed cases?

Are there any sites online that allow you to search the status of Fed cases? Atleast whether or not they have went to trial and/or when the trial date is?

I can find info locally and for some states, but there is an old online friend I want to check up on since he got busted. Been over a year since the indictment though.

Try contacting the local Federal Court clerk. He/she should point you in the right direction. I'm sure the info is there (it is public record, after all), it's just a matter of knowing whom to ask....
