Amanita muscaria
    #472970 - 11/28/01 11:49 PM (15 years, 4 months ago)

In a previous post, I inquired about a site selling mushroom caps...I found it...but they are selling Amanita muscaria...Can anyone tell me about these???

As a chef, I'm intrigued by their reported great flavor...

As a amatuer mushroom cultivator, I'm wondering if they're easy to grow and worth the effort...

And as a trip seeker, I'm wondering if they're any fun or whether they should be avoided...

Any info would be greatly appreciated...

Amanita's taste horrribly bitter, they are not a mushroom that is grown and the trip is very delirious and not what most trip seekers are looking for..As a chef I recommend growing portabellas, shitakies, enoikes and buttons, you can even buy oak trees with roots innoculated with truffles spores if you are willing to wait 10 years..If you want a psychelic mushrooms that taste good cooking with all taste great when used fresh....Do searches on these boards they have more information than you can keep up with..Good luck and happy searching.

Going crazy will drive you mad, but once you get there the rest is easy....All spores are not created equal!!!!!!!!!!! Sporeworks, Hawkseye, PF, they are completely viable with very strong genetics.

amanitas taste bad;
amanitas are almost impossible if not impossible to cultivate;
amanitas trip can be dangerous and are only for the strongest berserkers.
