Intention and (perceived) Pain

Note: I posted this down in WAF.
Many years ago, I saved a neighbor's toddler from a vicious charging dog that he was unaware of. I jerked the kid off the ground so violently that he starting crying. He was afraid of me from then on and not the dog. Perhaps to this day he thinks I am mean.

Mountains of insight present here. Implied great spiritual lesson. Thus, much room for misintrepetation. Much controversy result. Cost of expressing truth. Worth it, even if death.
Peace.

For some reason my intuition is making me doubt your story. If it was many years ago and he still thinks you are mean....then maybe you are mean. I mean wouldn't he have learned by now that you potentially saved his life?

This is mean spirited to try to start trouble over a mean spirited post.

I didn't mean to make it a mean spirited post...I just simply stated what my thoughts were. I like swami....and maybe I'm just a crazy lunatic. If you use 'real life examples' to prove a point...then I think they should be true stories.
The story is probably true....and even if the kid was aware that swami saved him....he would probably still dislike him from the emotional trauma experienced as a toddler.

Usually men over 50 are mean spirited.

The main reason I thought he was still "mean spirited" towards the kid was because he said "perhaps to this day he thinks I am mean." Either Swami is cold and isolated (or some other reason) or the kid moved away.

Some people are too scared to be friendly and then seem mean.

Yeah...shy people are perceived as being mean a lot of the time. Kinda weird...because a lot of times they are the really friendly ones.

The story is probably true....and even if the kid was aware that swami saved him....he would probably still dislike him from the emotional trauma experienced as a toddler.
Or, perhaps the kid would have still disliked him for other reasons.
The interesting point is that while Swami's intentions were good (bear with me here) and while he acknowledges scaring and perhaps even hurting the boy when he yanked him by the arm (the boy's shoulder still dislocates occasionally) what he seems to deny the boy's pain. Just because Swami's intention was good doesn't change the boy's feeling the pain, associating it with Swami, and fearing him after that.

I was in Tonga (Samoan Island), when I was 21 and in the Navy. I knew nothing of the people there. I was walking alone along a wide dark alley (minimal lights anywhere). I weighed about 145 lbs and coming straight at me were three HUGE male Tongans (sort of redundant - they are almost all huge) each well over 250 lbs of muscle with scowls on their faces.
Shit! Should I turn and run? No, the same stubborness you see before you today ruled me even then. Was I scared? Hell yes! I kept going to my doom expecting fully to be torn apart. When I got a few feet away, I was greeted by three rows of pearly whites and three outstretched hands welcoming the foreigner to their island amd making sure to invite me to their island-wide luau a few days hence.

You justify your completely irrational fear of being attacked by men who just happen to be large, while denying the rational fear of the child who you scared when you yanked his arm. What gives?
