dreaded cobweb......

I can get a so/so pic off my cam but its clarity won't suffice for this..... Can someone give a possible telltale descrip. of the dreaded cobweb mold? AFOAF thinks she's spotting halted growth (the jars were doing great, but are not quickly 'filling in the spots'....if you know what I mean). But the stuff is hard to differentiate from the healthy mycelium thus far..... I know the color is similar, but could someone expound? I know it'll be difficult w/out a pic, but any help would be appreciated.... The jars were well on their way to being fully-colonized..... Does the CW mess have a distinct smell?
