The Dreaded Cobweb......
    #472750 - 11/28/01 06:49 PM (22 years, 3 months ago)

Can the dreaded cobweb mold initially be hard to differentiate between the growing fluff of healthy mycelium? AFOAF thinks a few of her jars are exhibiting diminished growth, and THINKS she notices a "fluff" of a different sort in those jars, though I've looked at them and it's difficul to tell...... the thick fluff and healthy strands of mycelium are present, but there DOES seem to be a bit of diminished growth (the particular jars were all nearly covered and now seem to be failing to 'fill in the spots')..... Hope I painted a decent picture.... Does the CW have a distinct aroma? Also (sorry guys), are the Vick's vaporizer machines you see at Walmart ultrasonic humidifiers??

it is hard to say with out seeing them. some mycellium grow differenty. some are thick like small strands of rope, some a thin and very light. it all in the spore dna. if you are ever in doubt throw it out. you don't wanna get sick or die. vaporizers uses heat to turn the water into vapor to increase humity. witch makes it hot. cool mist use a spining disk witch breaks the water up into small drops that increase humity makes it cool.

cobweb looks very like mycelium but in a clump its easy to diferentiate... cobweb looks like a lot of white hairs, pretty uniform in appearence, myceium is strandy and ropey, but not hairy...
