Removing stubborn cakes
    #4727283 - 09/28/05 08:10 PM (18 years, 5 months ago)

I searched for answers but couldn't find anything so....

How is the best way to remove cakes that are stuck in the jar without smashing them up.

I just went to birth a cake and it would absolutely not budge. I ended up just breaking it apart and I attempted to case it.

What are your secrets?

you need wide mouth jars. if thats what you had then you should have been able to get them out by just tapping the bottom with some force. who wants cakes anyways casings are the way to go.

I don't have wide mouth, but I do have the non-shouldered ones...

Maybe if this casing works I wont have to worry about this problem anyways.

People who don't have the ability to splurge on equpiment to facilitate the subtle temp and humidity changes that casings require. Or people who live in a finnicky climate and just want to get a small amount of personal use shrooms. Or people who can't be bothered with the extra sterile procedures that casings require.

Need I go on?

You don't have to destroy the cake, but you will probably have to remove a small wedge to get it out.

My first grow was tapered jars also. har.

My cakes would not come out. I had to get a large flat razor blade used for paint scrapers and slide it into the jar beside the cake and press in on the cake untill it was small enough to just slide out. I think it delayed my pinning abit but they still turned out ok.

Yeah man - if you have to break a jar every time you have a colonized cake... that just sucks.
