I'm afraid to post
    #4726339 - 09/28/05 04:59 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

It has been made abundantly clear that I am held to a different standard and yet I do not know what that standard is. I have no guidelines other than a vague "toe-the-line".

This is NOT a whine nor a backswipe at anyone nor an attempt to rehash anything from the last week. It is a sincere attempt to figure out the game of what is acceptable on this Forum before I fully dive back in.

I understand following the wishes of the thread-starter, but I do not truly get the Off-Topic thing. Conceptually, I understand a total veering into another realm, but all threads meander to some degree and rarely end up where they started, and much of the humor, which is very much a part of S&P is hardly on-topic at all.

As to others' feelings, we have gone round and round on this many times. THE EXACT SAME PHRASE can get a chuckle out of one, indifference from another and raw anger from a third. How can the poster be responsible for a myriad of potential responses based on the reader's perception?

Christ, Gandhi and King all had the highest motivations to teach love and won admiration from some and hatred and death from others. If they could not please all men, how can a lesser being be held to such an impossible standard?

Suggestions?

Unless asked a question, I will merely listen in this thread and not post, and puh-lease do NOT make it about me - that is my only request. Not one single, "Swami, you are..." OK?

I think it will be more suitable for you once they split S&P(which it appears they are going to do). I don't expect you'll get in much trouble in the P&R forum.

I have been dicussing your case (I play a laywer on TV.) with my legal adviser Veritas. It seems you have a good case son and I would like to represent you. I will need a small retainer, but I assure you we are two of the best (actors) in the business.

If what you say is true then I plan on leading a holy crusade against the oppressors and bring back teh holy grail to S&P.

Fear not Swami, for I am with you. Even unto the end of the world. (or S&P, whichever comes first.)

Here's what Swami's horoscope says about today:

Quote:

It's extremely frustrating when you feel like major decisions are in other people's hands, but what you may not realize is that this actually works in your favor right now. If those offers involve unfamiliar terms or tempting extras, you're better off having steadier heads working for you in strange territory. Go ahead and discuss your needs with your representatives frankly, have some faith and wait to see what they come back with.

With a little help from your friends...

Swami, I suggest a lobotomy and a new Shroomery identity. This should facilitate your ability to post in a manner that will gain wider acceptance.

I personally feel that there are too many people who do not even directly participate in this forum that have identified for themselves some "problem" with S&P that needs to be solved. They continue to change and add rules in multiple rule threads that we probably don't read often enough to notice the change anyways (that is, they are off in their own realm, handing down declarations that we simply do not hear and do not effect us). Now the forum is likely to be split - and for what? To prevent this simply out-of-control clash that occurs when this one army confronts the other army in all-out war?

Maybe I'm a little more tolerant than the majority, but through my few years of being fairly regular here, I have never noticed any real problems. The only times that real problems have been brought into this forum, from my observations, is when people that do not even post here come into this forum and start telling us what is wrong and who they are going to ban.

It's like going into a bustling, village marketplace, where everyone knows each other and are selling each other fruit and various merchandise. Occasionally a few farmers get verbal about what they are selling each other, but, for the most part, everything is civil and everything is self-regulatory. The only problems arise when outsiders present themselves, ignore the subtle mechanics of how we interact with each other, and totally make asses out of themselves. Then the noble rides in on his horse and threatens and establishes new laws and might even push a few around, to the point that, since there is so much trouble in this marketplace (85% of which only result when the noble emerges on his horse, of course, but he doesn't realize that) we will now all stay in our home and order our fruit from each other through mail-order. :smirk:

Those who do not understand the subtle mechanics of this forum threaten to trample them like blind ogres.

:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :satansmoking:
Peace. :mushroom2:
