The special with Carl Sagan, one of the greatest scientific minds ever, is on the Science Channel. I want to buy the DVD set but all the sets on ebay are from Asia and they're probably burned.

Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

Space makes me happy. I can realize how trivial my problems are, no matter how bad they seem at the time.

Yeah, I once wrote a little mini essay on how keeping a picture of space on my desktop helped me feel humble.

Sagan was a brilliant man. Oddly enough, my dad was friends with him, and thought he was a bit arrogant. Oh well, the man did many great things for us human folk!

Nah, I wish...

I didn't really know who he was until a few years after he died.
