are there cyans in forks washington?
    #4725344 - 09/28/05 02:43 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

I just moved to forks washington and i guess the question is a little misleading. I know there are cyans in this area because its the pacific northwest and i practically live in the mountains, but i was wondering when and where the cyans will be growing. would i have better luck going out bushwacking through the forest to find them or are they more abundent in the town itself. if so where should i look. where do they like to grown and when. thanks. WASHINGTON RULES!

I have no idea about forks, but cyans are usually near/in town. Drive straight down 101 to Longview next month and look along the beaches right at the grass/sand interface. That's where the azurescens will be.

Cyans are most common in man made environments. Look for places that have alder chips. Be carefull as the deadly Galerina autumnalis can look alot like a cyan to the untrained eye.

Make sure you get a good book on identification of psilocybes as well as a good general field guide. I would recomend Psilocybin Mushrooms of The World, by Paul Staments.

Hunting psilocybes is best left to experienced mushroom hunters as psilocybes in general can look a lot like poisonous mushrooms and visa versa. Your first mistake could be your last! :nono:

I've got the stamets book. Fantastic reference.

In case it isn't implied, why not add:

*Please* don't carry this particular book *with* you when you hunt.

Thats all.
