why'd you put it in the fridge? you mean the water is see thru now and ALL the myc floats or theres just residue shit on top...

I hadn't see much growth for a while, so I thought maybe it was done growing.. then I read a post about a 1/2 pint jar still going after 4 mos. So I took it back out to grow some more since mine is only like 3 weeks old.. The water has always been see thru.. but now most of the mycelium is floating near the top, or on the top... looks the same as it did before the fridge tho..

the mycellian is supposed to float. the good thing about it is that when it runs low, you can take a chunk of the floating mycelian and place it in a prepared jar, and continue the process over again. You can also use the wate it is in to innoculate more jars. i learned this from the web site mentioned at the bottom of this responce. I found it under cultivation techniques. It is the 3rd tek down. it is called "liquid growth substrate." here is a lind directly to the tek: http://kyambiagifts.com/mushroom-madness/cultivation_techniques/liquid_growth_substrate.htm

The mycelium is NOT supposted to float! It is supposed to be in suspension, but not floating on top(if you have areas floating on top of the H.W. it is contam) Allow the H.W. to grow until you have a nice size cloud in suspension. Then put it in the fridge. If H.W. jars are jeft out at room temp, they will often work month's later, but the mycelium will not be as healthy as when it is done with the method above. This is just dude's expert advice, but you newbies know more im sure!
