What's the best water to mist with?

I have been misting my casings with a filtered water/peroxide mix, about 90/10 mix. Is this OK? My chamber already has a wet perlite layer at the bottom, The container is not 100% sealed and I'm sure there is still some evaporation. The strain is Gulf Coast (GC) and they are not getting very big.. Notice some ripe fruits at lower bottom of pan (This is a 12x9 foil pan using just sterilized verm.)

i dont know really. Just mist with tap water or spring water. i haven't had a sucesfull casing, yet, but i think you should keep it wrapped and at a place where indirect sunlight can get to it. if it condensates its good. Fan daily and hope for the best.

You're fine
All water I mist with and fill cool mist's with is a 10:1 distilled water and peroxide.

Your casing container looks too tall, causing C02 to collect at the casing layer. Cut the sides down to just a little above the actual casing, and fan more. B4 you do that tho, pick your shrooms and dunk that sucker. BTW what is your substrate?

My substrate is verm/BRF (PF Tek), casing is sterile verm/water 2 to 1 mix. I am using a bottom layer. I guess the picture freaked out here is another shot of the same pan (from the side) and I think the height is fine.
This my first attempt at growing. I have another casing going and some classic PF cakes in an aquarium. I figured why put all your eggs in one basket so I'm trying different methods.
The height of the perlite is 3/4" to 1". It is just moist to the touch not super wet.

What I am telling you about the height is that in my experience when you have a casing container that is alot higher then the substrate depth C02 gets trapped in there with it and STUNTS the growth, causing SMALL shrooms. But don't take my advice

it does appear that more fanning is in order, as well as some moisture into the casing/substrate. appears to be pulling away from the sides of the pan indicating it is drying out a bit. looks like a good pinset too, try some more fanning to get the co2 out of the pan like bruce is suggesting. maybe not cutting it down but fanning more to get the co2 out of the pan. that will definitely help ya get some bigger shrooms.remember though you are only going to get so much from a brf cake whether it is fruited as a cake or crumbled and cased.
best of luck

I tried what you suggested. I will see how it goes. I cut the pan lower. I misunderstood, I thought you meant the height of the fruits and not the substrate. Although I dont think any C02 gets trapped since the container is not completely sealed. The lids fits loosely.

I use the wet kind... and I find it works quite well, no complaints yet. It does tend to swish around in the bottle a bit though.

Backup,
How could I get more moisture into the casing besides misting? The perlite under the pan is quite moist, should I add more water to the perlite or maybe seal the lid with plastic wrap? I wiull fan more and I did cut the pan..

The water mix you use is fine. BruceAllen is correct about co2 collecting in the bottom, however if you keep up with your FAE then all will be fine.
I believe the short mushrooms is because of a combination of brf/verm substrate (not the best, but not bad at all)seen some great ones)
Also it appears that the sub depth is only around 3/4 to an 1inch deep or so, which will give relatively small fruits, given a fairly even flush. Just my thoughts.
Looks decent tho...Good job!
Take care n be safe...

Damn I type slow... I would suggest dunking it after the first flush, here is a thread from the Archives on dunking casings. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/2129821/an/0/page/0
Till then just keep misting...
Take care n be safe..
