    #4721010 - 09/27/05 04:27 PM (18 years, 6 months ago)

I'm working on a project called Lacentia. Its an annymous search engine. I'm doing this project because google logs your IP and your serches and will surrender that info to the government (which is illegal). So any PHP coders are appreciated. Post here if you are intrested.

Section 2511, paragraph C of the Electronic Communications Privacy Act

disclose, to any other person the contents of any wire, oral, or
electronic communication, knowing or having reason to know that
the information was obtained through the interception of a wire,
oral, or electronic communication in violation of this

The government has to follow the laws too you know.

Ok well I know plenty of people who have been busted because ISP's hand over information to the feds, it's how they catch people doing illegal things online.

With your ISP you sign a legal consent for them to do so, with google you do not.

They are called Terms of Service. You use their Service, you agree to their Terms.

When you got with your ISP I bet that had some kind of file or document that you had to click 'I Agree' to. That is a legal consent, saying 'you consent to the terms by using our service' is not unless the user explicitly agrees to it.

Nope, all I did was pick up my modem and plug it into my wall and it worked.

And then your modem connected to your ISP, thereby connecting you to the internet - therefore you have agreed to their ToS.
