Dry Humidity?
    #4721431 - 09/27/05 08:03 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

I have 2 things that tell me the humidity level in my grow chamber is at 94 percent. The temp in the air is 84fh. There is no water condinsation on the walls,Does that mean anything ?

Um I think that if it was 94 percent humidity the walls would be covered in condensation. So if there isn't any then its not 94 percent. Just like when it rains its 100 percent humidity.

Its weird cause when i stick my hand in there you can feel that its humid in there and if u breath u can feel it. But when you touch the walls it feels dry

Your temps are too high for fruiting. Condensation on the glass is caused by the mositure in the air hiting the glass that should be slightly cooler. If the glass is warm condensation probally wouldent form.

this is not weird at all. Condensation occurs at 100% relative humidity; when the amount of water becomes too much for the air too hold, it is saturated, and it, condensates. musher is right about the temp. the amount of water the air can hold increases exponentially with an increase in temperature; so it will be harder to saturate the air completely. also, 84 degrees is not a temperature in which the mushrooms would prefer to fruit. theyll be mad at you and probably wont even say hi to you because ur mean. 74 they like and they say hi. low to mid 70s. then u can have happy mushrooms and water drops on ur walls like all the other cool kids

ok first rain in not 100% humidity fog is.

second even if your at 99.99 percent humidity and the walls on your terrarium are the same temp as the air it will not condensate. the reason you get condensation is because tof the diffrence in the wall temp and the air. Ie 84 degree container that is in a room that is 84 degrees. if the air inside the terrarium was 80 and then inside 84 the walls would be slightly cooler then the air inside and you would have condesations.

thirdly the shrooms will pin just fine at that temp. not optimall by any means but they will pin and you can stll have a boutifull harvest. it just takes longer to pin. and overlay can become a problem but if you fruited at the right time it wont be unless its the puerto rican strain.

fourth if it feels really humid then it is really humid. two hygromemters wouldnt be that off in the same way.

fith good luck and dont love the fungus to death it will be fine.
if its not to difficul it might be a good idea to lower the temps but not nessessary

condensation means nothing. (you get condensation when there is a drop in temperature).

Do ya'll really expect me to believe that the condensation on this nice, ice cold pint of beer I'm sipping on is really because of the temperature difference between it and the air? Ridiculous! Everybody knows that the humidity rises to 100% whenever there's a cold beer around!

LOL, sorry, just kidding. Props to you guys on the humidity/condensation comments, it's surprising how much the condensation on the walls thing is spread with no attention paid to the physics of condensation.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

if you have a container where there isnt a difference in temperature between the walls and the air, which is usually the case with a fruitng chamber, condensation will only occur at 100% relative humidity.

it means that the temp in your chamber is aproxamately the same as the ambient
temp outside the chamber, condensation is due to high RH as ell as thermal
differential, I assume you're using plastic as glass would show it faster
