Any tips on having both a 74F and 84F fruiting/incubation chamber with a single aquarium heater?

I have a TiT setup with the water at 86F and I have a fruiting container sitting on top of a colonising container. I have not measured the top container temp but it is being kept warm by the container below it. My room temp is about 65-70F. Does anybody have any ideas on keeping 2 separate chambers with a single heater?
I was also considering putting a divider in the tub, siliconed in place. With the heater on one side and just water in the middle, the siliconed divider would buffer the heat into the other cooler chamber.

I now have one tray with substrate floating directly in the 84F water, another tray is floating with a smaller tray of substrate sitting in it, so it should be kept below 84F
