WBS bacterial infection?
    #4719751 - 09/27/05 02:26 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

I had some WBS that was aparently contaminated, turning alot of the seed blackish. Now i have removed them and they have been in a drawer for a week or so mabey a little less.
Anyhow I've noticed that the myc has covered up and grown over the black grain. If i had left it in the dark for 9-10 and never looked then i wouldn't have even known they were contaminated.
Can i still use it?
like i said i couldn't even tell that the seed was black under the myc.

Are you sure it wasn't some sun flower seed husks. I remove the sunflower seed for this reason. I found that a lot of the sunflower seed husks won't colonize so I just remove them.

NO I'm positive it's some type of contamination. well 99.99% positive.
Everywhere I injected the LC the seed turned black overnite. but the myc growth is HEAVY.

I've heard black isn't good. Be careful around those jars till you know what's going on.

i have a jar of wbs that turned black.. i have no idea what it is that causes this.. i can smell the jar through the tyvek, it smells fine. so.. i'm guessing its some kind of spoiled... i don't know if the jar would be any good to do a grain to grain. but for sure i'm not going to put that cake in w/ my others.
