Reincubate Phase of my Casing
    #4718762 - 09/27/05 06:48 AM (18 years, 6 months ago)

Cased, covered and put back into a dark place. When I opened up my casing on the 2nd day, and took a temp reading with my digital therm (sterilized) it read 90 degrees...TOO HOT. So what could the outcome be of this? Also I didn't have to patch...all my other casing I have had to patch at this stage...... I am OK to place in fruiting chamber?

Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

So the high incubation temp and the lack of patching...did nothing that severe to my casing?

Thermal death occurs at about 106F I believe, so your casing should be OK. I would just incubate at a lower temp than you were until you see the myc break through the casing layer. Then you can patch and fruit.

ok so you cased what with verm/coir?
a sealed tupperware isn't a good thing after casing a substrate, it should be able to breath at this point. that will probably also help with the heat build up. the perlite is not really necessary during the incubation phase neither, it will come into play when you start fruiting though. that is when you need the humidity.
