Hey all, a buddy knocked up 40 quarts of moist dung from a greenhouse, its cow dung, and its all been colonizing wonderfully. The dung was colonized with colonized rye, and the dungr is taken over in not much longer than a weeks worth of time. Anyway, after about two weeks the dung has turned into complete whiteness, and he has it in styrofoam coolers and other bins. So can pinning jhust be initiated as if they are big cakes ? Is fanning essential like in casings? I figure they are close to teh same setups as the dung bros kits, yet we are questioning the quality of the dung,. Even thouigh it colonizes quickly will it give off big shrooms like the dung bros kit? What would the estimated yeild be? What is the average for dung loads? I figure he has over 50 lbs of dung innoculated. Anyone have any numbers? Peace

That's a shit load of shit... I would expect the dung to produce well...no casing layer is necessary, as long as you keep the humidity good. It will likely give large ugly fruit, thats the way with dung... I would expect roughly 100 grams fresh from each flush for each cooler...but that is extermely variable on other conditions.

personally. Id make big casings. get a sterilite or rubbermaid bin, add a i inch layer of moist verm, about 5" od the crumbled dung substrate. then apply a 1.5in casing layer. run a cool mist humidifier as in ShroomGods Humidifier tek. you could probably assume 90-180 dried grams per square foot of compost.
