Hiya gots a question for all the mushroom masters in here.. My very first time trying to grow, did some research got all my stuff together and tryed to pull it off without contaminating the jars. Its been about 3 weeks and im seeing practically nothing. I believe my problem is that in an attempt to hide this from my mom I put the jars in my closet and didnt keep a constant heat going around the jars, I know this slows the growth down, but by how much? I now have the jars sitting in perfectly heated water for about a 5 days, will this help it or did I already do my damage?

Dont grow things that are banned in your home...respect your mother

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

I live in an air conditioned apartment and leave my jars in one of my dresser drawers...I typically see growth within a week and finished jars within 2.5-3...As long as you don't over heat them you haven't done any damage.

Edit
Dont grow in your moms home.
-------------------- "I celebrate the Earth, my home, my mother, my grave, and as long as men are Man they must, if they would preserve the integrated being, do the same---[and preserve]--this rank casual hungry smelly sweaty lusting transitory body, my oozy pulpy liquid-bag-swollen body, bones, blood, hair glands, my bejeweled sex; I love and celebrate it all. never to let men forget that they are animals as much as gods---that is one thing I shall say." after 3 weeks i would think you would see some growth even if temps werent optimal.. what is the temp in your closet? ive heard of ppl that dont use incubators, just room temp, and they grow just fine.. ive never tired it so i cant help you out on a timeline.. but i know i just knocked up some WBS (wild bird seed) with spores and in under 2 weeks they were fully colonized. that was in my TiT (tub in tub).
if your going for stealth you might be able to use a TiT, it would just look like 2 tubs stacked inside eachother with a lid on it.. and you could take the 2nd lid and put a lil peice of plexy glass on it to let some light in.. just an idea.. hope that helps ya some.. GL
-------------------- I am not lost.. i am going there looking for it.. and when i get there and find it, i will know what it is.. "The way to stop violence is not to go out and let your head be beaten in but to say, you want to take my life risk yours!" "are you sure u want to eat all them shrooms??" "yes i want to hear what my mind has to say..." remember opions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink.

then why try and hide it from her, if she doesn't have a problem with it.

first of all if i did this in open space in my room..it wouldnt have mattered..i would still have the same problem..i had no extra heat source that would have lasted, by now i would have thought to see something..all i wanted to know is if by using the heat source late If will further aid the growth... or does it make any difference....getting to my mother...my mom has no clue what i am growing..(even if i was to tell her)... and I rather not be bothered by her silly questions and non understanding.. ya happy?

no i'm not happy this damn migraine won't go away.
its been 3 weeks and you are seeing no growth at all? well, it may be time to start anew. something went wrong somewhere. even without heating the jars should have some kind of growth after that length of time. did you make your own jars? if so what is the substrate? brf cakes, what is the ratio you used for the mix? grains, how did you prep them?
don't count your mom's knowledge of life out, what you consider a silly question may actually at times lead you to an answer that you desire. My mom is like my best friend and helps me regularly with lifes problems. Give your mom some credit, she got you where you are today didn't she? She may actually understand more than you think.

His mum may, but she also may not, which could make his life very difficult.
I see both sides of the argument, it's ultimately his decision to ours on whether he tells his mum, if he's asking for help on growing i think that he should be allowed it.

Alright, whatever you say man. If you can get the jars up to optimal incubation temperatures.. such as 80 - 86 go for it.
It's not uncommon to have substrates with no signs of growth until past the 3 week mark. You should make a TIT incubator and make a new batch though. Just keep the old batch in the incubator for a couple of weeks.. if you see growth awesome.. if you don't, well you have a new set of jars on the way.

sry bout yur migrane ...*gives u migrane medicine*
yeah i prob just messed up somewhere i mean the jars look slightly fuzzy and my bf thinks he sees a lil somethin, hes grown successfully b4..but who knows.. I had my own jars quite large actually I bleached them twice and made sure they were clean... I used verm and rice flour and water which i boiled first..nice and simple ..used a pressure cooker and sterelized the whole shabang... being dumb tho I used the whole 10 ccs in only 3 jars..err..the stuff comes out fast ..could that hinder?
and as for the mom thing ..i love my mom shes like my best friend i respect her wisdom... shes ia also very naive

ahhh, another chick kickin it with shroomies, awesome. happy to see more of ya gettin into the swing. i need to find me one. welcome aboard. thanks for the meds, we'll see if they help. according to hippiechick: chicks can do it too and by god yes they can.
yeah, the excess water from innoc could have offset the water in your jars and be the cause of your lack of growth. sure they could still grow, eventually but the wait is probably not worth it at this point in time imo. the best thing to do would be to start with a fresh batch making sure you use the ratios of 2:1:1 verm:brf:water. what size jars are you using? you should only need approx 1cc per jar, 1/4cc per innoc hole, this will get you going quickly ime. you can use more but it is not at all necessary. definitely setup some kind of a incubator to keep your temps as even as possible, this also helps with colonization times.
best of luck to ya
