Norma Jean
Bleeding Through
The Bled
Atreyu

i listen to a very select amount of music that would be described as such, but i'm definately not 'scene'. DEP and The Locust are cool, as is High on Fire

I think Atreyu is good too. I just cannot understand why everyone is talking about them. They are definately not THAT good.

unearth and dillinger escape plan are two of my favorites.

well said. Dillinger ain't so bad but have always rubbed me the wrong way. Byzantine and mastodon are prety cool. (older)Nile and gorgoroth are alright.

Pig destroyer is cool...maybe that would be grindcore or deathcore (who fucking care? listen to them anyway)

I've been a metalhead all my life but I get really tired of all the nickpicky subgenres involved. People who get really into that are just music dorks who can't find a reason to convince themselves that they are cool.

The only remotely hardcore band that I can listen to, is a mix between rock and hardcore with some pop punk thrown in.

Silverstein.

That's as far as I can go without getting scared of what im listening to....

But as for dimmu borgir.... :hairmetal:

i believe pig destroyer is a power violence band (although leaning on the grind side.)

Agoraphobic nosebleed is the singers bastards child, with 2000bpm 4 second drum machine songs. They have a 3" cd with a 100 songs on it.

Anyways, as far as post hardcore goes - i would highly suggest listening to Guyana punch line - this is the most progressive noise ive listened to as late. Definitately kicking up the importance of sound quality and pushing the evolution of hardcore more towards a fan base of audiophiles. Hardcore has been done before.. its time to progress. Check out this band!

as i lay dying may be one of the worst bands ive ever heard.

Dillinger escape plan is Mathrock. You might also like Orchid (the genre originators) if you like DEP.

Daughters are another wicked Powerviolence band, check out Canada songs, 13 songs in 9 minutes.

Burnt by the sun are one of my favorites right now, brutal blast beats and tempo changes, mathy tendencies but burning violence with exceptionally spiritually intune lyrics.

East West Blast test is another really interesting metal/jazzy unit on Relapse records, definately sounds like a cross between Melt Banana and a Mike Patton gone haywire project.

If you like scene trash like the blood brothers, the red light sting is for you. but theyve since broken up.

I saw whitechapel and despised icon live. Sick as hell. Di rocked fucking face. Most brootal pit ever. ASP, Caliban, Heaven Shall Burn, Ion Dissonance, Animosity, Hatebreed, Hate Eternal, Bleed The Sky, Inveracity,  JFAC!, Man Must Die, Silent Civilian, Darkest Hour, Nothingface (not really metal, but badass as fuck!). I love metal. Norma Jean is pretty good for christian metal. But I will never knowlingly put religious music on my computer. Unless it was wiccan, pagan, toaist, buddhist, etc.  Eh, I'm stoned as fuck.

I like some hardcore/metalcore...I went through a massive metal stage! But generally I like 'the extremes' in any genre. (Why Bjork is on my avatar)

Also I think I don't like as much hardcore/metalcore nowadays is cos I have to listen to it at work. Bands like.....I killed the prom queen, As I lay dying, Picture the end,  frequent my work allot.

Haha the fact that you could listen to both dimmu borgir and silverstein amazes me :P

I had the unlucky experience of having to see them twice in two nights. Seriously who in their right mind would think a god-like band such as protest the hero would be coming in the same show as silverstein?!

As far as metalcore goes, if it wasn't for unearth i would never have gotten into it, but my new favourite metalcore/deathcore band would have to be The Eyes of a Traitor

And for Syle, if you would like to hear a song with.. a couple sick breakdowns check out no pity for a coward by suicide silence

And as far as Underoath goes.. lost in the sound of separation blew my mind away, some of the best christian metal i have ever heard.. that and August Burns Red of course
