Only 9 Months From Start to Finish

Well ive been tring for nine months"only a couple hours a week" and I have some thing to show for it. I took nine quarts of EQ spawn and innoculated a 150 gallon container of my new and improved mix. I just harvested 8 mushrooms that weighed over a kilo. Should be more than a hundred grams dry. I cloned all eight. Flush number two has just started and I have pins the diameter of a nickle.

new and improved mix.
5 lbs of straw "dry"
1 lbs of mother natures earth worm castings
30 cc of alaska moor bloom fish fertalizer.

Soak straw in warm water"no chlorine" for an hour. Remove and strain well. Mix in earthworm castings. Mix 30 cc of moor bloom with 250 cc of water. Mix into straw. Put all of the mix into a crab steamer. I live in Maryland. Steam at 150-170 F for two hours. Let cool on the stove overnight then innoculate. Use 10-15 percent spawn by volume. Good Luck

damn. my friend is in the middle of his first attempt. tats insane over a kilo for a couple o shrooms. I hope he gets results like that, but he rpobably won't hes just doin the mmgg. was it hardto do what you did? was there a lot of contamination. how many shrooms you gonna get from a 150 gals of substrate? would you reccomend doig what you did on someones second attempt at growing?

There is some contamination. Not a problem though. Just use 1 cake crumbled and mixed with 5 volumes of straw or dung. It should take less than two weeks to colonize. Take a look at a few straw teks.
