ISO's and DVD's
    #4710638 - 09/25/05 06:08 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

If I took a DVD and made it into an ISO image, could i take that ISO and burn it to a DVD and watch it in a DVD player?

i use DVD Shrink to change a DVD to ISO
then i use DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO to a DVD-R
and it plays just fine in DVD players.

Yes, you can... providing you have a dvd drive in your system.
If not, you may as well get yourself a burner and do it yourself!

I prefer to rip with DVD decryptor.
Shrink and re-author with DVD Shrink
Then burn with Alcohol 120%

But I'm fussy

Why waste your time with dvd-decryptor? yes, it's nice to have in the 1% occasion when DVD shrink doesn't work, but your just adding more work with that first step. Use DVD shrink to rip it.shrink it, then burn as usual.

That's what I do also. Make sure to get good dvd's, like verbatim. I've been using some memorex dvd's and I don't care for them. You can get a Lite-On burner on newegg for $50 shipped or go to wallyworld and pay $20 more, hmmm, what to do.

Main reason I use Decryptor first is it ties up my computer for less time.
I've had DVDShrink tie up my system for 6 hrs ripping and shrinking a full DVD.
Using decryptor, I know I have the entire DVD contents in the time it takes to play the movie.
Then I can re-author it, if I want to, at anytime.
More work? I just click a button and walk away, How hard is that?
... and if DVD shrink can't rip your movie (rare but happens)... you just wasted a few hours of time.

Like I said... I'm just fussy

I hate ripping the files "on the fly" with shrink. I always like having the files on my HDD just in case it doesn't burn correctly or anything. Plus, it only takes me 15 mins to decrypt a DL disk and then I can start the shrink process.
