What is the technique for making extract out of salvia leaves using denatured alcohol?

Forget denatured alcohol! You will only have problems with it, because almost all kinds of denat. alcohol contains a not evaporating bitter tasting fraction. Maybe if you only want to smoke it, but I would still go for pure ethanol.

You only have to grind the leaves and let them sit in alcohol for some days. Filter the alcohol and if you want to concentrate the extract, just let the alc evaporate completelly or partially.

Using only alcohol you'll never get pure Salvinorin A, which would need a difficult chromatography procedure to be obtained. You'll get only a crude extract, which is eatable or smokable and good enough for the most applications.

there was some discussion about getting crystalline salvinorin a from a very quick salvia/acetone wash (like 30 seconds (?) and the salvinorin crystallizes out as the acetone is evaporated or cooled...
and also some discussion about partitioning and backwashing, etc...
but then you have the problem of what to do with something that is very psychoactive when smoked in doses of less than 1/2 milligram (500 micrograms)...
