Semis in Ireland. glencullen in the dublin mountains
    #4709272 - 09/25/05 12:27 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

Found about 40-50 semis in a grass field grazed on my cows and sheep, and possibly goats.

If any vendor want to swap these prints for a PE syringe, let me know (or a partially used PE syringe). There are about 11 that came out as you can see, 1 had none and another is barely visible.

Location removed. I am pretty certain these are semi's. It is a field that I have picked in about 6 times, they always look like this and are certainly active. All of them have definite nipples on the caps.

-only one of them came out half-decent..

Well I wont eat them so, if you are all so certain. I have a big stock of cubes, and prefer to be able to predict the effects. They do look the exact same as the ones I have always picked (and tripped on). Any ones friends have picked over the years looked like this, there are some pics of semis posted here that I have never seen growing here.

I know the prints are not great, but if you can see spores you have enough. Thought they may have been of use to somebody.

Psilocybe semilanceata spores are dark purplish-brown in deposit.
And they are extremely difficult to cultivate.

I have seen one picture of them cultivated invitro (by a picture posted by mjshroomer); done by a proffessional.
and i think that is the only time this message board has seen them cultivated.

Workman has grown them. I know they are not worth attempting to grow, it would be academic to try it, I thought there maybe some people who really are interested in examining the prints!
The picture MJ may have posted is probably the Gartz one of it in a conical flask, I have heard claims that it is a fake, it does look like somebody dug up some earth and stuck in in a jar. There were other reasons too, I think it is mentioned in workmans thread in advanced.

I'm not going to bother looking again, I have cubes growing and in the field I found lots of old cow pats what I have just prepared. I found freshly cut straw in a field too. Plenty to keep me busy.

I'm not going to bother looking again,

well you are in a prime area to be finding Liberty Caps, during the right time of year too.
and if you have a safe field to be hunting on, i would personally give it a few more trys.

ive never personally found or hunted liberty caps,
but i would prefer eating wild libs over dried cubes.

but better how? simply the potency? or effect?
The potency will vary from field to field. What I meant was that with the cubes I pretty much know what 2g is going to do to me. Wild shrooms are a bit hit and miss, like LSD (which I never do anymore for the same reason).
And I know there are no maggots or stuff in my cubes. And I am sure that I am eating cubes! due to my obviously poor identification skills

Those prints are fine. If you can see spores then that is plenty for agar work. But..... I do have to agree that those are not Psilocybe semilanceata. It looks like you have at least two other species there.

i have found liberty cap potency to be MORE reliable than home grown cubensis. and certainly more potent.
i can take 2 g cubes and trip, or just feel a bit.
libs are always sharp and potent.
pan subbs are the most variable ive found, usually weak but sometimes surprisingly strong.
