If you're making a list of crazy people you might as well include Michael Moore and Alex Jones as well.

It amuses me that you always single out these chaps for some childish petulance whenever you get the chance but I dont really remember seeing you offer much constructive criticism of any articles, papers etc written by any of them.

I say Noam Chomsky is crazy because of what he writes. He has a bizarre and unrealistic worldview of geopolitics, history, economics. People whose grasp of reality is as tenuous as Noam's are considered crazy. What's even crazier is his apparent belief that people older than college sophomores will swallow his proclamations. While it can be argued no one ever became poor through underestimating the intelligence of the average individual, Noam pushes the boundaries to ridiculous extremes.

I have eviscerated ole Noam in this forum many times over the years. A forum search will prove fruitful. Here's the most recent thread dealing with his moonbattery --

and that goes double for a likely source of yours...

and BTW noam chomsky is also a world-renowned computer scientist who invented a mathematical discription of computer programming languages..which was necessary before any computer could be programmed in FORTRAN..C..java..etc...without noam chomsky..you wouldnt be ranting against liberals on the internet...

Chomsky is NOT a computer scientist he is a linguist.

Though Chomsky's work may have influenced some computer languages, your claim is highly suspicious. I would be interested in some proof from the developers of Fortran, C, Java, Cobol, Ada and various assembler languages to substantiate your claim.

Quote:

FYI, all the work in ALL higher level languages can be accomplished with assembler and assembler macros (although with more difficulty) and people have developed many languages with no help from Chomsky or his work. Sure Chomsky has had influence, but it would be a stretch to claim that without him high level computer languages and hence the internet would not have been developed.

wikipedia...

Quote:

Type-2 grammars (context-free grammars) generate the context-free languages. These are defined by rules of the form with A a nonterminal and γ a string of terminals and nonterminals. These languages are exactly all languages that can be recognized by a non-deterministic pushdown automaton. Context free languages are the theoretical basis for the syntax of most programming languages.

simply google noam chomsky programming languages for more details...
