    #4706746 - 09/24/05 09:25 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

So I will be moving to the northeast in December from the south. I do not have any experince in growing cacti in cold climates. How should I prepare my rooted lophos when I get them there will I need lights for my cactus and any housing(a green house is not a option) if so what kind?
MH,HPS,Floru Etc.. would a aquriuam be a good house for them?

they will need to be kept indoors in a warm, well lit area. even close proximity flouros on a 12/12 cycle will keep them from going dormant, but i'd give them 24 hr. light if possible.

Actually, 16-18 hours of light is best. Lophophora need a dark period so that they can transpire.

If you only have a few lophos just have a compact flouro beaming down on them. If you need more light coverage use some 2 or 4 foot T8 tubes. T8 put out more lumen's, and use less electricity than T12.

yeah housing is not neccessary.. and room temp should do quite fine.. somewhere between 75 degrees farenheit and 85 should be pretty good.
