colonizing question
    #4706536 - 09/24/05 08:18 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

what up people.. well.
i have my jars colonizing for ALMOST 3 weeks..(tuesday will be exactley 3 weeks),, and i can say that they are like 78% coloniozed...its mostley covered up with white, the bottem might have some verm still on there..but it looks good.
my concern is that it might be takeing too much... is this bad?
they are half pint jars..covered up with tin foil and lid on loose....air circulates thru inoculation holes...
could it be that they have little air exchange and THAT mihgt be the reason for the delay??????
at least it looks kewl... all white. so i guess im still in the game...
im just concerned about the timeing...i thought they would be fully clonized in about 2 weeks...
i mihgt be a little paranoid, i just want to be succesfull...
AnY TiPs!!!!!?????

3 weeks is a little long, but it really aint all that bad. As long as they are still growing?

You could try raising the temperature in your incubator or wherever you store the jars. Try keeping them at 85 - 90 degrees and see what hapens. I noticed that some strains like the warmer temperatures and colonize much faster.

You will be absolutely fine, just wait until it is copletely colonised. Try turning the jars upside down to speed up the last bit slightly. My first PF jars took over a month, more like 5 weeks. Be patient and you will have shrooms soon enough.

The first batch I attempted took a staggering 5 weeks to colonize, and then a few just stalled completely. I used the ones that stalled to spawn into some h'poo. I still got 200g wet out of 'em before contamination set in.

No. Don't go over 85 degrees, 90 is too hot. I suggest incubating at 82-84 tops to allow for ocassional variation. Better to be a little to cool than a little too hot IME.
