Psilocybe Semilanceatas?
    #4704973 - 09/24/05 02:08 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

Ok, so this is my first time picking, I'm from Cornwall, in England, I live on a large farm, so i thought I'd go ahve a look on my farm to see if any mushrooms grew in the fields, I finally found a marshy field that had a lot of mushrooms growing in it, I had done my research and I was pretty sure the mushrooms I had found growing were Psilocybe Semilanceatas, but being a first time picker, I still have doubts, so I thought I'd use this forum to check, I have 2 pictures of the mushrooms I have picked, so they might help you to tell me if they are the right ones...

Any help is appreciated, if you need any more information about where I picked them or whatever, please just ask.

so all those mushrooms are worthless?

percisely.

look for Psilocybe semilanceata in rich grasslands grazed by sheep and cows, mainly.
also try pastures, fields, lawns, or other grassy areas.

all paneolus foenisecii, though not all worthless per se, you wouldn't want to eat them of course but I know people who use dried mushrooms in art pieces, dry them out, get some sand and a bowl, make yourself a shroomy little zen garden, Ive got one on my desk, its pretty cool

Yes, although it may be more pronounced on certain specimens than on other. But trust me, you'll learn to recognize the species once you start finding them. The fact that you found foenisecii indicates that you're looking in roughly the right places, so with a little bit of luck, you'll stumble across them one of these days

One in the middle looks kind of like a subb but I can't really tell from the pic..

"I experimented with marijuana a time or two, and I didn't like it. I didn't inhale, and never tried it again." Bill Clinton

"A smoker would theoretically have to consume nearly fifteen hundred pounds of marijuana within about 15 minutes to induce a lethal response... In strict medical terms, marijuana is far safer than many of the foods we commonly consume. For example, eating ten raw potatoes can result in a toxic response. By comparison, it is physically impossible to eat enough marijuana to induce death."
