I think that would be the best thing to do.
I just deal with death so differently then everyone else. And I didn't realize I was such a bad person for not going over there right now. It seems it's the right thing to do. I guess my family has just cause for making me feel this way.

first let me say that YOU ARE NOT A BAD PERSON! Who is your family to tell you how to cope with death? Would it be healthier for your psyche to contemplate silently by yourself, or to be with your family and purge your emotions through animalistic wailing? You make the choice.
Sure maybe you should've visited more, but now it's too late. If you went now he wouldn't even be aware of you. If you want to be there to support your family then by all means do so, but if you did go over there it would solely be for them or yourself, NOT for your grandpa. He's been gone for a while now.
You are NOT a bad person, so DON'T feel guilty! Cope in your own way, and if your family can't understand that then fuck 'em! Your gramps knows you love him and that's what matters.
Be positive, find peace, and don't let anyone tell you how you should feel...

I felt the same way when my grandma was dying of cancer.Did not want to visit here or look at her when we where in the same room i barely made eye contact. Only i was like 9 years old. If that happend now i dont think i would do the same hopefully. Go see him maybe he will understand if he still can, either way just go.

If you haven't already I would suggest going even for a few minutes, not for the rest of your family but for your grandfather. You may regret this later in your life.
